Gulliver, a surgeon, on board a ship, thinks his voyage from port to port is nothing special. However, there are a few unexpected events that disrupt his journey and force him to take a different course. Now, the island where the ship reached, the native population is of a much different size and shape than him and inhabits these alien worlds. As a result of his mistaken journey to the island of Lilliput, he meets the miniature Lilliputians, who are just six inches tall.

In contrast, on his second voyage, a band of giants captures him when the other members of his fleet escape. Gulliver’s encounters with these peculiar people teach him important lessons in spite of the apparently unfortunate events that occur on the high seas.

Swift’s classic, written over four books, is a parody and satire of the sailing tales popularized in the early 20th century. Each book of Gulliver’s Travels ends with a heartfelt homecoming to his beloved England, with a changed Gulliver as a result.

Gulliver’s Travels is more than just a voyage and a mock travel book; it points at politics, religion, philosophy, science and pretentiousness with a wit and a bite that remain as relevant today as when it was published. This is why it has never been out of print in 300 years. Recently, Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels Audiobook version has cracked the top 50 bestsellers list for the classic category.
